Kolten Strait
Coach Kolten Strait — Assistant Coach, Bear Cave Wrestling
Background
Kolten Strait is an assistant coach at Bear Cave Wrestling Club, where he once trained as a young athlete. A four-time Colorado high school state placer and former Division II wrestler at Colorado Mesa University, Kolten competed as a starter during his redshirt freshman year before retiring from competition due to injuries. He now works full time as a mechanical engineer, bringing the same discipline, problem-solving, and persistence learned through wrestling into his professional career.
Coaching Philosophy
Kolten’s approach to coaching centers on resilience, hard work, and discipline—values that define both successful wrestlers and well-rounded individuals. He believes wrestling provides lessons that extend far beyond the mat, teaching athletes how to navigate adversity and pursue excellence in all areas of life. Balancing a full-time engineering career with coaching, Kolten models the mindset that wrestling builds: determination, accountability, and purpose.
Interests
Outside the wrestling room and engineering field, Kolten enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He is also active in several professional organizations, continuing to learn, grow, and lead both in his career and his community.
